TAR University College students who have graduated with the Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Honours) are eligible to apply to BQSM as Provisional Quantity Surveyor and subsequently register for the Assessment of Professional Competence (Tier 1) for Quantity Surveyors conducted by BQSM. Upon passing the Assessment of Professional Competence, they are eligible to register with BQSM as a Professional Quantity Surveyor and use the postfix PQS after their name. Candidates are also eligible to register with the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) as Graduate Members at the time of application as Provisional Quantity Surveyor with BQSM. Professional Quantity Surveyor will also be eligible to be admitted as a Member of RISM and use the prefix Sr before his name and postfix MRISM provided he is a Graduate Member of RISM at the time of application as Provisional Quantity Surveyor with BQSM

Course Description

The programme equips students with essential knowledge and skills in Quantity Surveying practices such as preparing project feasibility study; handling financial issues of the project; preparing tender and contract documents including measurement of construction works and pricing; evaluation and selection of appropriate procurement system, contractual arrangement and tendering method which satisfies the client's needs in terms of time, cost, quality and legal aspects; and advising the contractual issues based on general contract principles of Building Contract as well as general legal principles of Contract Law, Sale of Goods Act and Law of Tort.

Entry Requirements

(1) STPM - Grade C in 3 relevant subjects listed in Schedule A and SPM Credit in one Mathematics subject

(2) A Level - Grade D in 3 relevant subjects listed in Schedule A which must include one Mathematic subject

(3) UEC - Grade B in 5 relevant subjects which must include: - one mathematics subject - 4 other subjects listed in Schedule A

(4) Other IHL - Relevant Foundation (with minimum CGPA 2.5000)/ Diploma accredited by MQA AND SPM Credit/ O Level Grade C/ UEC Grade B in one mathematics subject

(5) TAR UC - Foundation in Arts (Track A) (with minimum CGPA 2.5000) OR Relevant Diploma Compulsory subjects:

(1), (2) ,(3) and (4) must include SPM Credit/O Level Grade C/UEC Grade B in English Language and Bahasa Melayu/Malay Language

Note:

a) TAR UC Diploma in Quantity Surveying will be accepted on credit transfer into Bachelor Degree programmes.

b) Equivalent qualifications/qualifications from other Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

c) Subject to the Ministry of Higher Education latest requirements.

Career Prospects
  • Upon completion of the programme, graduates can be employed as executive and/or administrative levels personnel in quantity surveying practices which include, but not limited to, take-off quantities, estimating, tendering, purchasing, cost control, and contract administration as well as project implementation in the construction industry.

All fees are in RM (Ringgit Malaysia) currency unless stated otherwise.
