AchievementTAR University College students who have graduated with the Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Honours) are eligible to apply to BQSM as Provisional Quantity Surveyor and subsequently register for the Assessment of Professional Competence (Tier 1) for Quantity Surveyors conducted by BQSM. Upon passing the Assessment of Professional Competence, they are eligible to register with BQSM as a Professional Quantity Surveyor and use the postfix PQS after their name. Candidates are also eligible to register with the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) as Graduate Members at the time of application as Provisional Quantity Surveyor with BQSM. Professional Quantity Surveyor will also be eligible to be admitted as a Member of RISM and use the prefix Sr before his name and postfix MRISM provided he is a Graduate Member of RISM at the time of application as Provisional Quantity Surveyor with BQSM
Course Description

This programme equips students with essential knowledge and skills in Quantity Surveying practices such as preparing feasibility study of the project; handling financial issues of the project; preparing tender and contract documents including measurement of construction works and pricing; evaluation and selection of appropriate procurement system, contractual arrangement and tendering method which satisfies the client’s needs in term of time, cost, quality and legal aspects; and advising the contractual issues based on general contract principles of Building Contract as well as general legal principles of Contract Law, Sale of Goods Act and Law of Tort.

  1. Bac.of Quantity Surveying (Hons) Graduates
  2. Eligible to apply as: -
    1. Registered Provisional QS, BQSM (ProvQS after name)
    2. Graduate Member, RISM
  3. Subsequently register for Assessment of Professional Competence for Quantity Surveyor (Tier 1) conducted by BQSM
  4. Passing the exam and
    1. Register as Professional Quantity Surveyor with BQSM (PQS after name)
    2. Admitted as Member of RISM* (Sr before name & MRISM after name)
  5. Assessment of Professional Competence for Quantity Surveyor (Tier 2) conducted by BQSM
  6. Passing the exam and register as Consultant Quantity Surveyor with BQSM (CQS after name)

Entry Requirements
  1. STPM - Grade C in 3 relevant subjects listed in Schedule A and SPM Credit in one Mathematics subject
  2. A Level - Grade D in 3 relevant subjects listed in Schedule A which must include one Mathematic subject
  3. UEC - Grade B in 5 relevant subjects which must include:
    • one mathematics subject
  4. TAR UC - Foundation in Arts (Track A) (with minimum CGPA 2.5000) OR Relevant Diploma
  5. Other IHL - Relevant Foundation (with minimum CGPA 2.5000)/ Diploma accredited by MQA AND SPM Credit/ O Level Grade C/ UEC Grade B in one mathematics subject

Compulsory subjects:

(1), (2) ,(3) and (5) must include - SPM Credit/O Level Grade C/UEC Grade B in English Language and Bahasa Melayu/Malay Language

Note:

  1. Students without a credit in SPM Bahasa Melayu are required to pass Bahasa Kebangsaan A before the award of Bachelor Degree.
  2. TAR UC Diploma will be accepted on credit transfer into Bachelor Degree programmes.
  3. Equivalent qualifications/qualifications from other Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
