Course Description

This programme provides students with a thorough and rigorous learning of principles of economics and their applications in the context of business organizations. With globalisation, graduates who are equipped with knowledge of business economics, information technology, management principles, law and statistics will be able to seek gainful employment in banks, financial institutions and commercial organisations.

It is designed to:

  1. Equip students with skills and knowledge necessary to conduct research using scientific methods to evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions to solve economic issues.
  2. Produce graduates with the requisite knowledge and skills which will enable them not only to build a career relating to economics in the public and private sectors but also to be self employed.
  3. Produce graduates who possess positive and ethical values as well as essential soft skills necessary to take on changing and challenging roles in order to meet the current market demand.
  4. Produce graduates with a solid grounding in the field of economics which will motivate them to pursue careers in a wide variety of settings or continue to postgraduate studies and lifelong learning.

*Co-Curricular Courses can be taken in any semester of the study

Entry Requirements
  1. STPM - Grade C in 2 relevant subjects
  2. A Level - Grade D in 2 relevant subjects
  3. SAM - ATAR 70 and minimum Grade B in 2 relevant subjects
  4. UEC - Grade B in 5 relevant subjects
  5. TAR UC - Foundation in Business OR Relevant Diploma
  6. Other IHL - Relevant Foundation/ Diploma accredited by MQA

Compulsory subjects:
(1), (2), (3) and (4) must include -

  • SPM Credit/ O Level Grade C in Mathematics#/ UEC Grade B in one mathematics subject#
  • SPM Credit/ O Level Grade C/ UEC Grade B in English Language*

#Grade B and above in AMMS0104 General Mathematics conducted by TAR UC is accepted as having fulfilled the mathematics requirement for applicants with a pass in SPM/Grade D or Grade E(Pass) in O Level/Grade C in UEC in the required mathematics subject.

*Grade B and above in AELE 0364 English Language conducted by TAR UC is accepted as having fulfilled the English Language requirement for applicants with a pass in SPM English Language/Grade D or Grade E (Pass) in O Level English Language/ Grade C in UEC English Language.

Note:
SPM holders must have at least a pass in Bahasa Melayu and SPM holders from Year 2013 onwards must have a t least a past in Sejarah.
