Course Overview

The Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Honours) programme is geared to produce graduates and equip them with in-depth knowledge and skills that are essential to work as professionals in the interior design, architectural sector and research field. Graduates will be well trained to develop competencies in being conceptual design and planning thinkers in all areas within the interior design disciplines such as interior design consultancy, design of stage, lighting and furniture and design research development for the betterment of the human environment. Graduates will enjoy good prospects for employment in various sectors ranging from interior design and architectural practices, interior contractors, and other organisations within the interior architecture sector. The Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Honours) is a pre-professional programme that provide an effective pathway for the graduates to be Registered Interior Designer upon the passing of LAM Professional Examinations.

Entry Requirements

  1. STPM - Grade C in 2 relevant subjects listed in Schedule A
  2. A Level - Grade D in 2 relevant subjects listed in Schedule A
  3. UEC - Grade B in 5 relevant subjects listed in Schedule A
  4. TAR UMT - Foundation in Arts (Track A) OR Relevant Diploma
  5. Other IHL - Relevant Foundation /Diploma accredited by MQA

Compulsory subjects:

  1. (1); (2); (3) and (5) must include SPM Pass/O Level Grade E/UEC Grade C in English Language.*
  2. (1); (2); (3) and (5) must include SPM Credit/O Level Grade C/ UEC Grade B in one mathematics subject.#
  3. (1); (2); (3); (4) and (5) must pass in Portfolio Interview conducted by TAR UMT.

*Grade C and aobe in AELE0364 English Language conducted by TAR UMT is accepted as having fulfilled the English Language requirement for applicants who fail English Language at SPM/O Level/UEC.

#Grade B and above in AMMS0104 General Mathematics conducted by TAR UMT is accepted as having fulfilled the Mathematics requirement for applicants with a pass in SPM/Grade D or Grade E (pass) in O Level/Grade C in UEC in the required Mathematics subject.

Note:

  1. Students without a credit in SPM Bahasa Melayu are required to pass Bahasa Kebangsaan A before the award of Bachelor Degree.
  2. TAR UMT Diploma will be accepted on credit transfer into Bachelor Degree programmes.
  3. Equivalent qualifications/qualifications from other Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  4. Subject to the Ministry of Education latest requirements.
