The BA (Hons) English Language and Communication (ELC) programme is designed to equip students who do not speak English as a first language with excellent communication capabilities for professional employment in English as a Second Language (ESL). Students who are learning English as a second or additional (foreign) language will be able to develop graduate level communicative competence in English Language, and to use English effectively.
Graduate employability has been a matter of concern to governments throughout the region, thus practical applications are strongly featured in the programme, which is geared to linking theory and practice through critical reflection to build work related skills as well as sound academic knowledge. Observation and experience of work (via Co-Operative courses), inquiry & project activities are integral to the learning processes of the programme.

Qualification Academic Requirement STPM/ ‘A’ Levels Minimum 2 Principals. UEC Minimum 5 Credits CPU CPU – Min. average score of 60% in 6 subjects. National Matriculation Min CGPA 2.5 Diploma/ Advanced Diploma/ Degree/ equivalent Min. pass (exemptions are at the sole discretion of the faculty after review of transcripts & syllabus; 30 credit hours as per MOE ruling) WAEC/NECO Maximum aggregate of 15 points over 5 subjects Other Year 12 Equivalent Minimum overall average score of 60% UCSI Foundation in Arts Pass SAM/ AUSMAT/ WACE SAM – Minimum average score of 60% in 5 subjects *Discretion is given to the faculty to deal with borderline academic requirements.

Individuals possessing the ability to think clearly and critically, to analyse and interpret data, and communicate results are in great demand by employers.
