Course Overview

Changing medical technologies and better informed patients make for a healthcare environment that is evolving at a fast pace. It is now more important than ever for the healthcare professionals to be adequately trained to effectively meet the demands of healthcare. Playing a crucial role are healthcare educators.

Clinical expertise and paper qualifications alone do not make a healthcare educator. It requires different sets of skills that empowers and inspires learners to do their best for the patients.

As an educator one must be able to combine clinical expertise with responsibilities related to designing curricula, developing courses / programmes of study, facilitating and mentoring learners, evaluating learning and documenting the outcomes of the educational process. This programme is designed to provide the art and science of healthcare-related pedagogy to groom the best healthcare professionals.

Assessment

This Advanced Diploma in Teaching Methodology for Health Care Professionals consists of 70% structured coursework and 30% practicum. The coursework and practicum are based on continuous assessment and final examination. Continuous assessment includes the following components: assignments (lesson planning, construction of test items, oral presentation, research proposal, case study, critiquing, and reflections), and practicum (micro-teaching, actual exposure to classroom and clinical teaching, and counselling of students)

STPM Min 2 Principals (C) in Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics/Physics. Minimum GPA 2.0 ‘A’ Levels Min 2 Principals (E) in Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics/Physics.
