Mechanical Engineering is concerned with the design, development and manufacture of equipment and products. As a profession, it is intertwined with every aspect of manufacturing industry such as research and development, design, manufacture, testing, marketing and technological development.
The 4-year programme in Mechanical Engineering provides the student with the necessary skills in theory and application of machinery, thermodynamics, manufacturing, management, CAD, product design and related courses. A major input of the programme is the emphasis on laboratory and computer aided product design. Graduates of this programme find employment in manufacturing industry, marketing, consulting firms and mechanical and electrical engineering construction company. Courses that have been offered are: Introduction to Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Materials, Strength of Materials, Mechanics of Machines, Manufacturing Technology, Heat Transfer, Engineering Control and Operational Research.

A Diploma in Engineering / Science Diploma from institutions accredited by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with a minimum CGPA of 3.00
and
A minimum of Honours ( Grade C ) at the SPM level in the following subjects :
Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
or
Obtained at least Grade B (CGPA 2.67 ) at STPM level in the following subjects :
Mathematics / Further Mathematics T
Physics
Chemistry
or
Obtained at least Grade B ( 2.67 ) at the Matriculation / Foundation level in the following subjects :

Physics / Engineering Physics
Chemistry / Engineering Chemistry
and
A minimum of Honours ( Grade C ) at the SPM level in the following subjects :
English or at least a Level 2 ( Band 2 ) in Malaysian Bahasa Inggeris Test ( MUET )
