Bachelor of Nutrition (Hons)

Course Overview

The nutrition programme offers a 4-year (8 semesters) full time course leading to a Bachelor Degree in Health Science (Nutrition). The offering of the programme is to cater for the needs for more nutritionists in Malaysia. 

The programme applies multidisciplinary approaches, and is taught by experts from basic sciences, food science, and dietetic, medical, social science and community services.

The nutrition programme has the purpose in delivering knowledge in the basic human nutrition and focuses towards community nutrition in Malaysia. It provides an academic programme that is able to produce versatile graduates and in fulfilling the needs of the job market in the future.

Students will be exposed to every aspect of food, dietary nutrient requirement, evaluation of nutritional status and issues of lifelong nutrition cycle. Students will also learn the problems of nutrition in a community and methods in overcoming these problems. The research component will also be taught and students are required to carry out a research project in the final year. Teaching is conducted via lectures, seminar, practical, self study and directed learning

Entry Requirements

Minimum qualification with Diploma or Matriculation/ Asasi

Fulfilled university general requirements:

• Passed Malaysian Certificate Education (MCE) / equivalent with distinction in Malay language or distinction in Malay language July paper and
• Passed at matriculation / Asasi level with at least CGPA 3.00 and
• C grade (CGPA 3.00) for other two (2) subjects and
• Obtained at least Band 1 for Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

Also fullfilled the programme special qualifications as follows:

• Passed MOE Matriculation / UM Asasi Sains / UiTM Asasi with at least CGPA 3.00 and
• Obtained at least B grade (CGPA 3.00) at matriculation / Asasi level for other two (2) subjects from the following: Biology, Physic, Chemistry, Mathematic

Minimum qualification with STPM

Fulfilled university general requirements:

• Passed Malaysian Certificate Education (MCE) / equivalent with distinction in Malay language or distinction in Malay language July paper and
• Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination with at least CGPA 3.00 and at least C grade (CGPA 3.00) for General Paper subject and
• C grade (CGPA 3.00) for other two (2) subjects and
• Obtained at least Band 1 for Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

Also fullfilled the programme special qualifications as follows:

• Passed Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination with at least CGPA 3.00 and
• Obtained at least B grade (CGPA 3.00) at STPM level for following subject: General Paper and any two (2) subjects from the following: Biology, Physic, Chemistry, Additional Mathematic / Advanced Mathematic
