Agricultural science is an interdisciplinary field covering important areas of agriculture such as agronomy, aquaculture and animal science. Students learn the scientific principles and practical applications involved in managing and improving animal and plant production.
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Agricultural Science covers agribusiness, land and water management, agricultural digitalisation and the analysis of agriculture-related systems. Students are also introduced to commercial-scale farming, agrobiodiversity, soil science, aquatic biology, precision agriculture, improved fish and animal husbandry and sustainable food production.
UTAR provides dedicated facilities and land through the UTAR Agriculture Park to support fieldwork and practical learning. Students may also take part in visits to plantations, fruit and vegetable farms, hatcheries, goat and poultry farms and other agricultural operations.
International exposure may be available through student exchanges or internships with agriculture-related institutions such as the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology and National Cheng Kung University.
Industry Scholarships
Agricultural Science students may be eligible for scholarship opportunities offered by agriculture-related organisations such as Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, United Malacca Plantation Berhad, IOI Group and the Kuok Foundation.
