Biomedical science combines biology and medicine to support the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases. It examines the structure and function of the human body, ranging from organs and tissues to cells and molecules.
Biomedical scientists contribute to the development of advanced diagnostic tools, therapeutic strategies, vaccines, medical equipment and medicines. Biomedical research also supports the healthcare industry's need for improved medical care and skilled scientific professionals.
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Biomedical Science is an interdisciplinary programme combining biology and pre-clinical sciences. It provides students with a strong foundation in health sciences while developing professionalism and practical scientific skills.
The programme prepares graduates for opportunities in medicine and health-related industries, including biomedical research, healthcare management, education, forensic science and pharmaceutical development.
