The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Applied Chinese Language is described as the first programme of its kind in Malaysia. It provides students with a foundation in Chinese studies while developing the ability to apply this knowledge in education, digital technology, media, culture and communication.
The programme emphasises practical and versatile skills in Chinese language and culture, including pronunciation training, teaching, media communication and digital applications.
Graduates may pursue opportunities in language education, publishing, translation, digital industries, cultural and political communication, media and related fields. They may also continue to postgraduate study and research.
The programme currently holds provisional accreditation.
It is described by UTAR as the first Applied Chinese Language degree programme of its kind in a Malaysian higher education institution.
