Course Description

Banking and Finance related to the management of money and financial instruments in an economy. Their activities range from managing the circulation of monies, the decision making of investment, the granting of credit, the acquisition of capital, the provision of banking facilities and the management of financial institutions and financial system.

The Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Banking and Finance  is developed to train students not only on the different operational aspects of a business entity but also equip students with specialised banking and finance knowledge and skills.

In addition, students practice with an industrial relevant tool such as Statistical Analysis System (SAS) for business analytics and intelligence, data management and predictive analytics. The combination of operational efficiency and expertise in banking and finance coupled with ability in the industrial relevant tool is a qualification that is highly sought after by many employers other than those in the banking and finance sector.

Graduates of the Banking and Finance degree programme will be given certain exemptions from the professional examinations of AICB, ACCA, ICSA, MACS and FPAM. UTAR's Banking and Finance is also recognised by Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Programme which provides additional professional pathway to our students to engage in the investment careers.

Besides, UTAR has partnered with CIMA Finance Leadership Programme (FLP) to enable the Banking and Finance students to access the CIMA Professional Qualification. Students will only need to complete 3 Case Studies exam to complete the professional qualification concurrently with the UTAR Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Banking and Finance degree.
