Course Overview

The main objective of the Bachelor of Laws programme is to produce professionally well-trained, excellent and competent legal personnel who are committed in the legal profession in line with the national aspiration.

The programme aims to provide a fundamental legal knowledge and understanding of the features of the legal system and law of Malaysia together with other related disciplines. The programme develops students’ intellectual, excellent verbal, written and interpresonal skills, to enable them to be flexible and open minds, to allow them to have the ability to think logically, critically and analytically, as well as to facilitate them with a creative approach of problem solving. Founded on the Eminent Management University’s theme, the programme is structured to include management courses making it special in its own way.

Entry Requirements

KELAYAKAN SIJIL TINGGI PELAJARAN MALAYSIA (STPM / SETARAF)

• 1. Lulus SPM / Setaraf dengan baik
• 2. Kepujian dalam Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia di Peringkat SPM / Setaraf
• 3. Lulus Peperiksaan STPM dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya:
  • Gred C (NGMP 2.00) mata pelajaran Pengajian Am: dan
  • Gred C (NGMP 2.00) dalam dua mata pelajaran lain.
• 4. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Tahap 1 (Band 1) dalam Malaysia University English Test (MUET)

Syarat Kelayakan Khas Program [LL.B (Hons)]

• 1. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B (NGMP 3.00) pada peringkat STPM dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah ; dan
• 2. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya kepujian pada peringkat SPM dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Malaysia dan Bahasa Inggeris; dan
• 3. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Tahap 4 MUET (Band 4); atau
• 4. Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Tahap 3 MUET (Band 3) dan Gred A- bagi mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggeris di peringkat SPM.
• 5. Kelulusan sekurang-kurangnya Gred C (NGMP 2.00) pada peringkat STPM bagi mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu/ Kesusasteraan Melayu boleh diterima sebagai ganti syarat Kepujian Bahasa Malaysia/Bahasa Melayu pada peringkat SPM.

Career Prospects

There are a wide range of career opportunities available to law graduates. Generally a law degree prepares students for legal practice. At the same time, the degree offers an excellent foundation for many careers that covers both public and private sectors which include public service, business, academia, and community based legal organisations.

Graduates therefore could find themselves in legal careers as advocates and solicitors, magistrates or judges, registrars, or alternative dispute resolution providers, legal advisors or officers in banking and financial institutions, or in business as an in-house lawyer. In brief, a law degree that provides solid legal knowledge and advocacy skills can be applied by graduates to almost any occupation.
