Hospitality and Tourism is a multidisciplinary field of study that prepares you with the expertise, commitment, and skills for management, marketing, and operations positions in an industry that provides food, accommodations, and tourism services to people away from home. It involves developing an understanding in the provision of hospitality such as housekeeping, cleaning, and food and beverage service; and the management and operations of travel and tourism activities. This field also covers the principles and practice of modern tourism and issues such as ecotourism and sustainable development.

What you will learn?

1. Hotel, restaurants and catering

This sub-field prepare you to provide reception, accommodation, entertainment, food, beverage and related services in hotels, clubs, restaurants and similar enterprises. You will learn about organising and supervising food and beverage services, organising and supervising housekeeping services, stock control and costing, customer services, maintenance, wine and food knowledge, mixing and serving drinks, taking orders and serving meals, silver service and table setting.

2. Travel, tourism and leisure

In travel, tourism and leisure, you will study cultural and social aspects of tourism management; tourism destinations and products; tour planning, marketing and management; leisure and tourism marketing; and event management. You will also learn the theories of promoting tourism services, marketing theories in relation to tourist travel, accommodation and facilities, the development of strategic marketing plans and consumer behaviour.
