Cyberjaya, 11 September – Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Dr. Idris Haron called upon graduates to boost their adaptability to compete in the era of the global-wide Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In this era, he states, the explosion of Information and Communication Technology has changed the national and societal landscape.

“Remember that we are in the fourth industrial revolution, and those who succeed is the one who has the high capacity to adapt in the changing world,” he said, during his speech after receiving the Honorary Doctorate in Knowledge Science from the Chancellor of Multimedia University (MMU), Tun Datuk Seri Zaki Tun Azmi, in conjunction with MMU’s 18th Convocation Ceremony here, yesterday.

In the same ceremony, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Dr. Halim Shafie, Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), was proclaimed as the new as the Pro-Chancellor of MMU.

Idris said that graduates form the backbone of the government’s developmental efforts, by means of the utilization of their knowledge and expertise in the future.

Hence, the process of knowledge and skill acquisition does not cease upon graduation, but it is a life-long process. This is especially true in this increasingly challenging world.

Among MMU’s successes, he said, was being named by the QS World Ranking as a top 200 university in the world by subjects in electrical and electronics engineering for three consecutive years since 2015. Idris also congratulated MMU for being conferred the Premier Digital Tech University status by the Ministry of Higher Education and MDEC.
