Asia e University 1st Virtual Convocation 2020

This year Asia e University (AeU) celebrated a total of 838 graduates in its 10th Convocation ceremony. Graduates from around the world are ceremoniously gracing their presence at the prestigious (AeU) 10th Convocation virtually.

The convocation ceremony was joined by the Board of Governors and the Board of Directors of Asia e University and were broadcast live to all AeU students and graduates from all over the world.

The graduation ceremony includes the message from Vice – Chancellor, Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Hassan Said, the address by the Representative of Asian Cooperation Dialogue, H.E.Dr. Pornchai Danvivathana followed by the address by Chairman, AeU Board of Governors, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Awang and the virtual procession.

During the conferment of Degrees and awards, graduates are listed by programmes and as names are read, a personalized slide is featured with their name, programmes, a photo and a personalised message from the graduates.

The convocation witnessed the graduation of 838 Malaysian and International graduates. AeU’s International graduates come from Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Somalia and Yemen. 465 of these graduates received their postgraduate certificates while 373 received certificates for their respective undergraduate programmes.

A total of 25 students graduated with AeU’s Doctoral degree programmes of which 13 of them obtained PhD (Business Administration), 5 in PhD (Education) and 2 in PhD (ICT). In addition, 5 graduates obtained the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA). Among of these Doctoral graduates are international graduates from Indonesia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Kenya and Brazil.

In the Message from AeU Vice Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Hassan Said “In light of the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s graduating class of 2020 missed out on traditional physical in-person graduation ceremony and have to settle for a virtual convocation.

Nevertheless, it should not dampen your graduation celebration. It is a great privilege for me and my colleagues to witness this auspicious occasion. I am proud of the fact that this success has been achieved as a result of joint accomplishments by our students, faculty members, and the management of the University.

The graduating students have proven themselves worthy of the degrees and it is time for them to harvest the fruits of the hard work they put in during years of university education. Now that you all have completed your studies, it is time for you to undertake major responsibilities and contribute to the development of your country as a whole. I do not have any doubt that you are capable of constructing new paths, taking up unknown challenges, and bringing forth triumph and glory for yourselves and for the country. I would like to remind them that they have just embarked upon a long and ceaseless journey; in this journey, they need to hold on to their dreams, tend it well in order to realize them, and ultimately to reach their final destination.”

The 12 most outstanding graduates who were the recipients of AeU’s prestigious Excellence Awards are:

Ms. Chew Lik Kwang, the recipient of the Chairman’s award is the graduate of Master of Education from Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia. For the President’s Award, the recipient is Khor Mee Fong of the Bachelor of Education (Teaching Malay Language in Primary School) from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

For School Awards, the recipients of the Best Students are:

Ms. Yap Joong Joong from Miri, Sarawak and Ms. Evon Tan Ka Vun from Beaufort, Sabah who jointly received the Best Students in Master of Education. The Best Student award in Master in Management, the recipient is Ms. Lai Siew Fong from Kuala Lumpur. Besides that, Senthilvasan A/L Muthan from Kuala Lumpur received the Best Student in Master in Information Communication & Technology Management. The best student in Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) Honours is Ms. Patricia Lim Tet Mui from Kuala Lumpur. While, the best student in Bachelor Information & Communication Technology (Honours) is Ms. Tazkia Shabrina from Indonesia.

For the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons), the Best Student award, received by Ms. Rawvidah Binti Tajuddin from Kuala Lumpur and the Best Student in Bachelor of Education (Teaching Islamic Studies in Primary School) with Honours is Ms. Norliza Binti Mohamed Nawi from Ipoh. Meanwhile, Best Student in Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education is Ms. Chong Pei Lem from Sandakan, Sabah.

Last but not least, Ms. Oon Yee Juin from Kuala Lumpur has been selected to receive the Mahani Zainal Abidin Award.
