Professor Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Haji Mohammed Haniffa bin Haji Abdullah
FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN AND PRO-CHANCELLOR
MAHSA University
MAHSA was established as MAHSA College in 2005 with the belief that higher education in the field of healthcare was a vital gear in the development of the nation. MAHSA is the brainchild of Prof Datuk Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa who is the founder, Pro-Chancellor and the Executive Chairman of the University. The Pro-Chancellor, himself a clinical practitioner of Medicine, believed in creating a center of excellence, an institution devoted to creating qualified, competent and caring healthcare professionals to address the acute shortage of healthcare professionals in Malaysia.
In the year 2005, MAHSA College was formed with one program, the Diploma in Nursing with 38 students. By the year 2007, the total student population stood at 7000 and within 2 years, MAHSA outgrew its original premise and a second campus was set up. Today, over 10, 000 students are enrolled in over 70 programmes ranging from Certificates to Diploma, Degree and Masters in MAHSA University in Bandar Saujana Putra, MAHSA College Sabah Campus and MAHSA Avenue International College in KL.
In 2008, MAHSA College upgraded to University College. This was a remarkable achievement considering the newness of the institution within the country, something unheard of in the private sector of the education industry. In 2013, MAHSA became MAHSA University.
Tan Sri Haniffa decided to diversify MAHSA's portfolio into other sectors of higher education namely Business, Accounting, IT and Multimedia, Engineering, Arts and Design. Today, MAHSA is known to be not only an Education Institution, but an entity that has penetrated into various service industries namely Healthcare, Retail, Foreign Exchange, IT, and Hospitality, serving too as an incubation hub for its own students and as a channel of employability to its own graduates.
