Campus Principal
Tenby Schools Penang

Jeanne grew up in a very small village in South Africa but relocated to the United Kingdom in May 1997. At the time she was working as a Diplomat and was posted to the South African High Commission in London where she had responsibility, amongst other things, for promoting education and cultural links between South Africa and the UK. She holds an M.A. (Cum Laude) in History from the University of Stellenbosch, SA.

Coming from a family of teachers, a move to teaching was always on the cards for Jeanne. So, she started her teaching journey in the United Kingdom in January 2002 and taught in several UK schools until August 2013, when the travel bug bit her again and she moved to Miri, Malaysia.

Jeanne qualified as a PADI Divemaster and this amazing learning experience required her to step completely out of her comfort zone and engage in a good struggle. She also learnt how to write in Arabic by attending evening classes at a college in London as she was spending a lot of time scuba diving in the Red Sea and was frustrated by not being able to read road signs and instructions.

Jeanne believes that good learning takes place in an environment where children’s opinions matter and where they are encouraged to take risks. Therefore, she actively seeks opportunities for students to grow beyond their current level of capability.
