Born on 12 September 1970, Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei’s journey as an educator began with stints at Multimedia University, Malaysia, and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Malaysia.
In September 2018, Prof Ir Dr Lee was appointed as the President of the then Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC), and subsequently celebrated the institution’s 50th anniversary together with the TAR UC community in 2019.
In 2020, Prof Ir Dr Lee worked on the institution’s 10-year Roadmap which will be the direction for the institution from 2021 to 2030 to be a regional talent development hub by 2030. Two years later, he focused on upgrading TAR UC to a full-fledged University status, and in November 2022, the institution was officially upgraded to Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).
Prof Ir Dr Lee has carried out numerous research projects in information and communication engineering. He has received funding of more than a million ringgit for research and has published more than 60 journal and conference papers. He has also collaborated actively with the industry on research and consultancy work.
Prof Ir Dr Lee is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia in which he served as a member of the Council and Executive Committee from 2012 to 2014. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
