Course Description

The objectives of this programme are to produce graduates who can master the elements of digital media technology especially using web and multimedia as well as mobile technology as its main platforms and have the skills that needed to serve the society and the nation; to provide professional manpower in digital media technology who can work creatively, think critically and be able to transit their skills into diversified domains; and to produce graduates who have high quality of knowledge on design, development and management of digital media.

There are lots of opportunity for digital media to be utilised in learning, education and entertainment industry, especially in producing content in the digital world. The Creative Industry Outlook (2011 – 2014) study done by PriceWater Cooper House has proven that the industry value for Creative Multimedia amounts up to RM4.2 trillion. These revenue are brought in from 4 major industries which are Feature Films (RM288 billion), Animated Content (RM270 billion), Video Games (RM192 billion) and also Mobile Application (RM88.5 billion). This significant number shows the critical role played by the Creative Industry in contribution to the country’s economy. Note 2:

  • TWO elective subjects can be replaced with Industrial Training. Industrial Training (6 credits) can be taken by those students interested to do industrial training. Industrial must be carried in a firm/organization that specialised in Internet Computing/Web/Mobile Development. Students must find their own firm/organization for the placement
Entry Requirements

Normal Entry

Passed SPM/SPMV/MCE or equivalent with credit in Mathematics; AND
Passed STPM/HSC or equivalent with at least 2 principals (CGPA 2.00); OR
Passed A-Level with at least 2 relevant subjects and passed O-Level or equivalent with credit in Mathematics;OR
Passed a recognized Matriculation / Foundation in relevant field with minimum CGPA 2.0 ;OR
Passed a recognized Diploma or equivalent in Multimedia Creative with minimum CGPA 2.5 (CGPA below 2.5 but above 2.0 may be accepted subject to rigorous internal review process by the faculty); OR
Other Diploma (or equivalent from higher institutions recognized by the Malaysian government) with CGPA 2.5 and credit in Mathematics in SPM; OR
Other qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.

OR

APEL Admission

More than 21 years of age on 1 January in the year of application; AND
Relevant work experience / prior experiential learning; AND
Pass the APEL Assessment (Aptitude Test & Portfolio) conducted by OUM
