Course Description
The programme is specifically designed to prepare graduates with the ability to carry out scholarly applied research independently at the forefront of their specialised field in social and behavioural science, and become experts who facilitate and contribute to the advancement of new knowledge.
 
Graduates of this programme are able to independently conduct, manage, and lead advanced research which contributes to substantial, new and original knowledge, and/or professional practice in the field of SBS.

They are poised for upper-level positions whether in organisations, consulting or academia, and are expected to contribute towards improvement in their places of employment and to the nation.

Entry Requirements

For Malaysian and International Students:

  • A recognised Master’s degree in related fields; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications with a recognised Master’s degree.

Notes:

  1. There shall be no direct entry from Bachelor’s degree level to Doctoral degree level.
  2. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree qualifications who are registered for Masters programmes may apply to convert their candidacy to the Doctoral degree programmes within ONE (1) year after Master’s degree registration, subjected to:
    1. Having shown competency and capability in conducting research at Doctoral degree level,
    2. Rigorous internal evaluation by the Senate of AeU.
    3. Get approval from the AeU Senate.

Additional Requirements:

  • A statement of research intent, describing what you have already done and what you hope to accomplish in your doctoral research
  • A curriculum vitae (CV) or resume

Minimum English Language Requirements for International Students:

  • IELTS 5.0 or its equivalent.
  • Those who have their tertiary education in English will normally be exempted from the above requirement.

*Any of the above conditions would require student’s research proposal to be approved.
