Course Description | This is a full-time undergraduate program. Students will be awarded a degree in Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) after completing 140 credit-hours of course works. The duration of studieswill be a minimum of eight (8) semesters which is equivalent to four (4) years (normal duration) and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters which is equivalent to six (6) years (normal duration). The mode of offering of all courses will include lectures, tutorials, laboratory practicals, seminars, presentations, problem-based learning, case studies, industrial training, and co-curriculum.
The program is in line with the Malaysian 5-years plan in building human resource and to increase the number of scientists in Malaysia. The degree will adequately prepare the students should they want to further their studies at higher levels, in line with the National Higher Eduation Strategic Plan to produce 50% scientists and researcher for each 10,000 workers. |

Career Prospects | Investigation and diagnosis of the diseases, health management, medical therapy procedure production, and analysis on the effect of pollution to human depend so much on the laboratory tests and investigations. Hence the modern society needs competent and skilled biomedical scientists who can think critically to solve some health-related problems. With the increase in the nation manpower needs in public and private sectors, this Biomedical Science graduates are expected to be employed as researcher or scientist, science officer, research officer, underwriter, and academic staff, respectively at the government hospitals, public health laboratory, private pathology laboratory, public research institutions, health-related industry as well as at the public or private higher education institutes. |
