Welcome to the Postgraduate Channel.

Postgraduate study is significantly important when you aim to reposition your career or to begin scientific research.

How to Apply?

There is no centralised postgraduate application agency in Malaysia. As such, you need to apply directly to the individual universities or colleges using an application form or via their websites (if available online). You can apply to more than one university. PhDs and MPhils courses usually do not have fixed entry dates.

What goes into an application varies from institution to institution. Some only require a letter while others will want a complete academic history and research plan. What is most usual is to fill out one of their application forms where you will be expected to highlight your academic record and possibly mention your proposed research interests.

Work experience is valuable when applying for a postgraduate course so give full employment details along with a list of skills you have and training you attended.

Your personal statement is one of the most important parts of the application form and you should think about it very carefully. Mention your motivations for the course, experience and interests but be specific and honest. Some institutions may conduct an interview with the potential student before offering a place.

For a taught-postgraduate programme, some institutions may require an upper second-class degree mandatory while others are happy with an upper or lower class second degree or the international equivalent. [TOEFL (550-700) and IELTS (between five and seven)].
