The Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme aims
at providing integrated and relevant knowledge in business and
management. This programme is designed for those seeking to
advance their career in business and management. For those who
have already embarked on their careers, this programme offers the
opportunity to refl ect on their managerial experience and extend
their knowledge into new areas. Thus, the programme is expected to
increase students’ ability to think critically about management theory
and practice, and to be able to solve a wide range of managerial
problems.

Core Courses (24 units)
Core courses are designed to equip students with management tools
and skills which are important in business decision making. These
comprise eight courses:
• Business Law and Ethics
• Accounting for Decision Making
• Financial Management
• Organizational Management
• Marketing Management
• Business Economics and Decision Analysis
• Managing Operations and Information System
• Strategic Management
Concentration Courses (15 units)
Concentration courses are designed to provide students with
knowledge in specific areas of interest in business and management.
Students need to select one of the following concentration areas,
where a minimum of five courses need to be taken to complete a
particular ‘concentration’ area.

Research Component (6 units)
Intended to build the vital skills to conduct research that focuses
on addressing managerial problems with policy implications and
using the right methodology to arrive at pragmatic solutions to these
problems.

• Research Project
Elective Courses (3 units)
Students can choose from a wide range of elective courses from any
business disciplines courses or from accounting approved by the
Dean.
Teaching and Learning Approach
Integration of experiential and interactive learning approaches which
utilise the case study method, simulations and role-play.
Medium of Instruction
English is the predominant language of interaction in class. However,
students may write their assignments in either English or Malay
language.

Duration of Study
• 3-6 semesters (Full-time)
• 5-10 semesters (Executive)
Admission Requirements
- A good bachelor’s degree with honours from UKM or any other institution of higher learning approved by the University Senate.
- A qualifi cation equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and other qualifi cations recognised by the University Senate.
- A minimum of two years’ work experience at post-bachelor’s degree stage.
English Language Requirement
Foreign applicants whose native language is not English and locals
applying for admission who intend to write their thesis/dissertation
in English should demonstrate a good command of English (either
TOEFL score of minimum 550 (paper based) / 213 (computer based),
or IELTS band 6.0), or attended and passed UKM’s test of English
language competency programme at a high profi ciency level.
