MSc ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING

This MSc is designed to provide instruction and training in the most recent developments in a broad area of technology covering Electronic Communications and Computer Engineering. The course aims to provide students with an advanced and comprehensive coverage of specialist skills required by an engineer working in electronic instrumentation, telecommunications (both wireless and wired) and computer hardware and software aspects of computer engineering. The programme provides an excellent basis for engineers wishing to update their knowledge, or students who wish to go on to do research, or for first degree students wishing to enhance their training.
Programme Structure
The programme is operated on a modular basis and consists of two
semesters during which students follow a series of taught modules
(120 credits), followed by a research project (60 credits) undertaken
during the summer period.
Modules Offered
Students must take a minimum of 90 credits from this group:
- DSP for Telecommunications, Multimedia and Instrumentation with Project (20)
- Mobil Communications (10) or with Project (20)
- Instrumentation and Measurement (10) or with Project (20)
- HDL for Programmable Logic with Project (20)
- RF Microelectronics with Project (20)
And a maximum of 30 credits from this group:

- VLSI Design (10)
- Power Electronic Design (10)
- Control Systems (10)

Additional Components
Students who have taken any of the above modules as part of their
BEng/MEng degree course at the University of Nottingham are not
allowed to take modules for a second time. Students are required to
consult with the Course Director who will select alternative modules
to those studied previously.
Admission Requirements
Candidates would usually be expected to hold at least a second class
honours degree or equivalent in a related subject from a recognised
university.
English Language Requirement
Applicants whose first language is not English, and who do not have
a degree from a UK, US or Australian institution are normally required
to produce evidence of their level of proficiency in English. Either
IELTS minimum score of 6.0, or TOEFL minimum score of 550.
