MSU in QS Asia Rankings 2020

Management and Science University (MSU) has climbed 92 spots to rank 179th on QS Asia Rankings 2020.

Placed among Asia's best universities, MSU had ranked at 271 in QS Asia Rankings 2019 and 217 in 2018.

MSU has performed very well in scores for international faculty, international students, outbound exchange, and inbound exchange. The university also does well in citations per paper and employer reputation; whilst academic reputation, international research network, faculty-to-student ratio, papers per faculty, and faculty staff with PhD made up the rest of the ranking’s eleven metrics.

MSU was first rated in 2016 when it received QS 5-Stars in teaching, facilities, graduate employability, social responsibility, and inclusiveness.

MSU made its entry into the QS World Universities Ranking (WUR) in 2019, placing 541-550.

QS Employability Rankings 2020 placed MSU at Top 301+ for Alumni Outcome, Top 301+ for Employer Reputation, and Top 201+ for Partnerships with Employers. MSU ranks at number 183 for Graduate Employment Rate and 144th for Employer-Student Connection.


Regionally, MSU is Asia’s Top 10 for Graduate Employability, Employer Reputation, and Alumni Outcomes; as well as Asia’s Top 5 for Employer-Student Connection.


Another QS Ranking for MSU is Top 100 in QS 50 Under 50.

The MSU focus on research is managed by its RMC (Research Management Centre) and encompasses twenty-five core areas. These include cyber security, entrepreneurship, big data, environmental sustainability, energy sustainability, blindness prevention, halal cosmeceuticals, innovative engineering solutions, pharmaceutical technology, forensic science, complementary and traditional medicine, and 21st-century learning.

Four centres of excellence support the RMC mission; these are the MSU Leadership and Entrepreneurship Advancement and Development (LEAD) Institute, the MSU International Centre for Halal Studies (ICHLAS), the MSU Information Technology and Innovation Centre (ITIC), and the MSU Centre for Cyber Security and Big Data (CSBD).

The QS Higher Education System Strength Rankings placed Malaysia as the second Southeast Asia country making the list in 2018, ranked 25th in the world among 195 countries.

In QS WUR 2020, Malaysian universities were ranked higher than 25,000 other universities worldwide.
