Accounting Qualifications
AAT Certificate in Accounting (Level 2) The Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is where you’ll develop your skills in finance administration: double-entry bookkeeping, purchase, sales and general ledgers, basic costing and using accounting software.
AAT Diploma in Accounting (Level 3) While studying the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, you’ll master more complex financial processes, including final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, reports and returns and professional ethics.
AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting covers financial team leader skills, including financial statements for limited companies, complex management accounting tasks, management skills and specialist learning areas.
Bookkeeping Qualifications
AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping This Level 1 qualification introduces the role of a bookkeeper and the underpinning knowledge to identify and carry out simple different bookkeeping activities, such as income and expenditure, profit and loss, and assets and liabilities. It also offers an introduction into the role, and the benefits and risks associated with bookkeeping software.
AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping Students studying this qualification will develop practical accountancy skills in the double-entry bookkeeping system and in using associated documents and processes while gaining an understanding that digital accounting systems are automating some of the stages in the process. Students will cover transactions for accuracy, make entries in appropriate books and ledgers and calculate sales invoices and credit notes.
AAT Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping This qualification will develop complex skills and knowledge necessary to work in a bookkeeping role or to progress to higher level accountancy roles or study. Students completing this qualification will become competent in financial processes including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping and preparing financial statements. They will also be introduced to business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT), including an understanding of the documents and reports produced on payroll software, timescales for submissions and payments.
