Teacher Education Courses (Primary School Level) for SPM and Other Qualification Holders

There are 3 types of programmes:

Preparatory Programme for Degree in Teacher Education (PPISMP) June 2014 Intake

Programme Details

  1. This special programme provides training for future teachers of the Teacher Education Institute (TEI) as determined by the Ministry of Education in various specialisations for the primary school level.

  2. Candidates are required to undergo PPISMP for 12 months or 2 semesters at a TEI as determined by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

  3. Candidates who pass PPISMP will be awarded the PPISMP 'Certificate of Completion’ and will be offered a place to pursue the Bachelor of Teaching programme (PISMP) for 4 years or 8 semesters at a TEI as determined by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

  4. PPISMP and PISMP are full-time programmes.

Requirements

  1. Candidates must be Malaysian citizens, not more than 20 years old at 30 June 2014, that is, those born on or after 30 June 1994.

  2. Candidates must be physically healthy and active in co-curricular activities.

  3. Candidates must possess ‘excellent’ grades in any 5 subjects at SPM level.

  4. Candidates must possess at least a ‘credit’ in the subjects of Bahasa Melayu and History, and a ‘pass’ in English.

  5. Candidates must fulfill the terms of the respective specialisations (please refer to the online application website)

Preparatory Programme for Degree in Teacher Education (PPISMP) for candidates who have passed the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) and Sijil Menengah Agama (SMA) or Sijil Menengah Ugama (SMU) for Special Intake June 2014

Programme Details

  1. This special programme provides training for future teachers of the Teacher Education Institute (TEI) as determined by the Ministry of Education in various specialisations for the primary school level.

  2. Candidates are required to undergo PPISMP for 12 months or 2 semesters at a TEI as determined by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

  3. Candidates who pass PPISMP will be awarded the PPISMP 'Certificate of Completion’ and will be offered a place to pursue the Bachelor of Teaching programme (PISMP) for 4 years or 8 semesters at a TEI as determined by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

Additional Requirements

  1. UEC students must have at least 3 credits for their Senior Middle Level Certificate ( UEC-SML).

  2. SMA or SMU students must have at least 3 credits at SMA or SMU level.

Application Process

  1. Applications can only be made online through the website of the Ministry of Education Malaysia at http://www.moe.gov.my starting 10 May 2014.

  2. Applications will be processed based on the qualifications and criteria set by MOE. Shortlisted candidates must pass the Ujian Kelayakan Calon Guru (UKCG) before being called for an interview.

  3. Candidates are advised to log on to http://www.moe.gov.my to obtain details on the advertisement, Ujian Kelayakan Calon Guru (UKCG), interview, conditions for specialisations, minimum grade and activity calendar before submitting an application.

  4. Candidates are only allowed one application which can be updated anytime.

  5. Applications must be verified and sent before the closing date. Successful applications will be sent a reference number as verification.

  6. False and incomplete details will result in the rejection of the application.

Programme to Send Excellent SPM Students to World Renowned Universities Abroad (PPC) in Teacher Education 2014 Intake

The Ministry of Education invites candidates with outstanding SPM results who are qualified and of high potential to apply for the PPC programme.

Requirements:

Must be a Malaysian citizen, not more than 20 years old on 30 June 2014, that is, those born on or after 30 June 1994.

Candidates must be physically healthy and active in co-curricular activities.
