11MP: Vocational education for more skilled workers

Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the emphasise on (TVET) in the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) with RM1billion budget for the Skills Development Fund compared to 10MP (RM500 million) is in line with the ministry's plans (including Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025) that were launched earlier.

"This will further strengthen our aspiration to produce more skilled workers. 11MP gives more emphasis on education sector including the building of more schools and vocational education.

"Meanwhile, Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan said such emphasise will boost the nation's vision to achieve developed nation status.

"This is because, one of the indicators of the developed nation is the number of skilled workers that we have. We are also happy that several of our proposals were included in the 11MP namely, the TVET and preschool education.

"Cooperation from all Malaysians is vital in ensuring the success of the 11MP," he said.
