TAR UC’s Pre-University Students Honoured for Top Results

As recognition for their excellent results in the November 2015 Cambridge examination series, three Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (‘TAR UC’) students were honoured at the recent Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards Ceremony which took place on 21 April 2016. The three students, namely Tee Wern Shen, Hor Sui Lyn and Tee Zhen Lee received Top in Malaysia for Cambridge International Level for Business Studies, High Achievement in Cambridge International Level for Computing and Top in the World for Cambridge International AS Level for Mathematics awards respectively for their stellar academic performance.

Citing the solid track record of TAR UC in producing high achievers in the A Level examinations, Tee Wern Shen shared the reason for her to study in TAR UC. “I did extensive research on various higher learning institutions before deciding where I would pursue my A Level. And there is no doubt that TAR UC stands out as the best institution of higher learning because of its consistency in producing high achievers for the examinations. Looking back, I am very pleased with my decision to study in TAR UC,” she said.

Apart from this, Wern Shen also noted that the learning resources in TAR UC were very crucial in realising her achievement. “I used to spend a huge portion of my time in the library to study and do my revision as it has a comprehensive range of reading materials, past year question papers and excellent references which enriched my revision. Apart from that, I am grateful to have lecturers who are not only committed to delivering high standard of education, but they care about students’ well-being,” she explained in detail.

Apart from this, Hor Sui Lyn who was the high achiever in Computing shared her rationale for studying in TAR UC. “I chose to study in TAR UC because the A Level programme contains the subject on Computing, a subject that I am very interested in. And I do not regret studying in TAR UC because the syllabus is very compact and comprehensive and is presented to students in a very systematic manner. Besides that, I am more confident to advance my education in the area of computing and technology as I know that the A Level programme in TAR UC has built in me a strong foundation in the area of computing and technology,” she added. Sui Lyn is also grateful for the extensive facilities available on the campus grounds which had been very helpful to her during her study in TAR UC. “Stress was a serious concern for me in my preparation for the examinations. However, I was able to destress by actively playing sports in campus. I am grateful for the many sports facilities in TAR UC which helped me in my stress management,” she explained.
