Recent decades have seen a dramatic development of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality, Robotics, etc. Such technologies have the ability to fundamentally transform operational landscapes, revolutionizing processes, and creating new opportunities. This is the key reason that led to the introduction of the Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) Industrial Intelligent Systems at UTAR. This programme is designed to nurture ICT professionals who are competent in supporting, developing, and deploying intelligent systems to tackle the challenges faced by modern industries. This programme not only provides the student with a solid IT foundation such as programming, networking, database and cybersecurity but also the core technologies needed to navigate the companies towards Industry 4.0. These include digitisation and data acquisition, data-driven decision-making, data visualisation, artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and migration strategies.

To successfully traverse the fast-evolving technology landscape, modern IT professionals need to possess a blend of technical proficiency and soft skills. As an effort to produce future-proof talents, the Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) Industrial Intelligent Systems is adopting a work-based learning mode. The students will spend their first two years in university and their final year in industry.
