The programme requires students to complete 134 credit hours and this normally requires four years of full time study. It is designed to produce professionally-trained and Islamically-oriented graduates in sociology and anthropology who are equipped with the ability to think critically, analytically, and creatively about society as well as apply sociological and anthropological perspectives integrated with revealed knowledge. The general academic requirements for admission into undergraduate degree programmes of IIUM as follows:
A Pass at the SPM level or equivalent with at least
and
A Diploma or any other Equivalent Qualification with a CGPA 3.00 recognized by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the Senate of the University
or
A Pass at the STAM examination with at least Jayyid Jiddan:

A Pass at the STPM examination with a CGPA of 3.00 or at least:

Obtained a required Band in the “Malaysian University English Test” (MUET) as specify by each programmes.
