Course Overview

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Management and Science University (MSU) is a 5-year medical programme offered at the main campus in Shah Alam and the offshore campus in Bangalore, India. This programme has 2 phases: pre-clinical phase (Years 1 & 2) where the knowledge of basic medical sciences is taught, followed by the clinical phase (Years 3, 4 & 5) of clinical sciences. Being a student-centered institution, the MBBS outcome-based and integrated system-based curriculum utilizes 21st century teaching & learning methodologies in its delivery throughout the programme. These include interactive lectures, problem-based learning (PBL), team-based learning, project-based learning, practical and clinical skills sessions, and clinical training with patient contact in the various clinical disciplines. Early clinical exposure is introduced in the pre-clinical phase to emphasis the importance of clinical application of basic medical sciences. To enhance the students’ learning experiences in the various aspects of healthcare services, our curriculum provides the opportunity to do clinical electives overseas; basic research and collaborative learning with other Allied-Health Sciences students in the PEC - Interprofessional Education (IPE) modules.

Entry Requirements

All applicants from Matriculation, Foundation, or Pre-Medical programmes except those with a degree qualification, STPM or A level shall have passed and attained a minimum of the following at School Certificate Level or equivalent:

SPM: Five (5) Bs each in Biology & Chemistry & Physics & Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and another subject; OR

GCE O-Level: Five (5) Bs each in Biology & Chemistry & Physics & Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and another subject; OR

 UEC: Minimum of B4 each in three (3) subjects: Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics or Additional Mathematics

 All applicants shall have passed and attained a minimum of the following:

 A. at Higher School Certificate Level or equivalent,

 STPM: Grades BBB, ABC, or AAC or CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0) in three (3) subjects: Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics.

 GCE A-Level: Grades BBB, ABC, or AAC in three (3) subjects: Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics.

Matriculation / Foundation in Science / Pre-Medical Course: CGPA  3.0 (out of 4.0) in three (3) subjects: Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics, provided no score for any subject is less than C (GPA 2.0) and provided that the course is not less than one (1) year at the same accredited institution; and the minimum entry qualification is five (5) Bs each in Biology &  Chemistry & Physics & Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) and another subject at School Certificate Level or its equivalent.

 UEC: Minimum B4 each in five (5) subjects (Biology & Chemistry & Physics & Mathematics & Additional Mathematics)

 

Monash University Foundation Pre-University Program (MUFY) / University of New South Wales (UNSW) Foundation / Western Australia Curriculum Council / HSC Sydney Australia / Trinity College Foundation Studies / Australian Universities Foundation Programmes / South Australian Matriculation (SAM) / Victorian Certificate of Education, Australia, Year 12 / Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT): Aggregate or equivalent of B in three (3) subjects: Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics; or 80% ATAR provided the subjects include Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics.

 National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 / New Zealand Bursary: Average of 80% in three (3) subjects: Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics.

Canadian Pre-University (CPU) / Canadian International Matriculation Program (CIMP / Canadian Grade 12/13) / Ontario Secondary School Diploma Grade 12: Average of 80% in three (3) subjects: Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics.

Indian Pre-University:  Obtain Eligibility Certificate from National Medical Commission India, Pass the NEET* Exam; and average of 70% in three (3) subjects: Biology & Chemistry & Physics or Mathematics

*NEET – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

**The NEET is required for Indian Citizen who wish to work in India.

***Those who do not intend to work as a medical practitioner in India must provide a signed letter of undertaking witnessed by a Lawyer or Commissioner of Oath. This letter of undertaking must clearly state that they will not seek registration with the National Medical Commission of India.

International Baccalaureate (IB): Minimum overall score 33 points, two (2) science subjects (Biology & Chemistry) at Higher Level (HL) and Mathematics at HL and attained a minimum score of five (5) each in: Biology & Chemistry & Mathematics.

*This requirement is effective starting from January 2024.

 B. at Diploma level.

 Diploma in Health Sciences: CGPA 3.5 (out of 4.0) and provided the course is not less than five (5) semesters or 2 ½ years and completed in the same accredited institution and at SPM/O-Level or its equivalent with minimum two (2) Bs in any 2 subjects: Biology, and/or Chemistry, and/or Physics; and three (3) Credits each in English and Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and another subject at school-certificate level or equivalent. 

 C. at Bachelor’s Degree level

 Degree in Health or Pure or Applied Sciences: CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0)

Applicants shall be required to undergo an aptitude test and/or an interview and/or a university entrance examination.

Graduates from a medical programme who seek employment in the public sector must fulfil the criteria set by the Public Services Commission of Malaysia (SPA).

Clarifications shall be sought from the Council in situations for which there are no provisions in this guideline.

Fulfilling the English Proficiency test: MUET or its equivalent (Local candidates); IELTS/ TOEFL (International candidates).
