Course Overview

It is a three years architectural degree courseof a five years programme after a successful completion of IIUM's AED matriculation programme or the STPM / GCE 'A' Level or Equivalent. Whilstthe emphasis of the IIUM’sArchitecture & Environmental Design (AED) Matriculation Programme is in preparing the students with SPM with Language skills (English and Arabic), it also provides them with the basic foundation knowledge ofenvironmental design. BSc in Architectural Studies providesthe design and technical skillsrequirements of the overall architectural education leading to Part I and a basic entry requirement to the Bachelor of Architecture Degree [Part II]for the professional degree programme

General Requirements for Malaysians


The general academic requirements for admission into undergraduate degree programmes of IIUM as follows:
 

  1. Minimum Requirements STPM / STAM / Diploma / Asasi UiTM / PASUM :

A Pass at the SPM level or equivalent with at least

  • A Credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or equivalent
  • A Credit in “Pendidikan Islam” / “Tasawwur Islam” / ”Pendidikan Al-Qur’an & As-Sunnah” / ”Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah” at the SPM level or equivalent;
  • A Credit in any three (3) subjects in SPM/equivalent.


and

A Diploma or any other Equivalent Qualification with a CGPA 3.00 recognized by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the Senate of the University

or

A Pass at the STAM examination with at least Jayyid Jiddan:

or

A Pass at the STPM examination with a CGPA of 3.00 or at least:

  • Grade C [Subject Grade Point (SGP)] of 2.00 in the General Paper;
  • Grade C [Subject Grade Point (SGP)] of 2.00 in two [2] of other subject taken.


and

Obtained a required Band in the “Malaysian University English Test” (MUET) as specify by each programmes.

Language Requirements

English is the primary medium of instruction. All applicants should submit a

score of 550 in the TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreigh Language) or 6.0 points in the IELTS (International English Language Testing Services) or EPT (English Placement Test). The latteris administrated by IIUM. Candidates who do not meet the above requirements may take up language proficiency courses within the university to achieve the required standard. Arabic is employed as a secondary medium of instruction.
