Course Description

The skills gained from a degree in sports and exercise science could certainly fire the starting gun for an interesting and rewarding career. Graduates equipped with a good knowledge of the sports and exercise science enable them to look at the science behind health and fitness, as well as an insight into related areas such as nutrition, psychology and management. Demand is growing for sports scientists and performance consultants, as society in general develops a greater awareness of health and fitness issues around work.

This programme provides the students an opportunity to work with industry through their internship and to carry out a real-life research project on sports and exercise science. All such training will add value to their qualification and later to their employment opportunities.


Human Anatomy and PhysiologyIntroduction to Sports Science, Foundation of Fitness and Exercise, Sports Psychology, Principles of Coaching, Basic Biomechanics, Sports Injuries and Prevention, Motor Control and Learning, Sports Nutrition, Sports and Exercise Psychology, Biomechanical Analysis of Human Movement, Exercise Physiology, Testing and Measurement in Sports & Exercise, Applied Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Research Project, Research Methodology in Sports & Exercise, Sports & Exercise for Special Population, Internship/Industrial Training

Core Elective (Choose 6):
Applied Sports Nutrition, Exercise and Rehabilitation, Sports Coaching, Strength and Conditioning, Physiological Testing and Training, Performance Assessment for Sports, Clinical Exercise Testing, Health, Fitness and Disease, Behaviour Modifcation in Sports & Exercise

Entry Requirements
  1. STPM - Grade C in 2 relevant subjects
  2. A Level - Grade D in 2 relevant subjects
  3. UEC - Grade B in 5 relevant subjects
  4. TAR UC - Foundation in Science (Track A / Track B) OR Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science
  5. Other IHL - Relevant Foundation/ Diploma accredited by MQA

Compulsory subjects:
(1), (2), (3) and (5) must include -

  1. SPM Pass/ O Level Grade E (Pass) in Mathematics ##/ UEC Grade C in one mathematics subject## AND
  2. SPM Pass/ O Level Grade E (Pass)/ UEC Grade C in English Language**

**Grade C and above in AELE0364 English Language conducted by TAR UC is accepted as having fulfilled the English Language requirement for applicants who fail English Language at SPM/O Level/UEC.

##Grade C and above in AMMS0104 General Mathematics conducted by TAR UC is accepted as having fulfilled the mathematics requirement for applicants who fail the required mathematics subject at SPM/O Level/UEC.


  1. Students without a credit in SPM Bahasa Melayu are required to pass Bahasa Kebangsaan A before the award of Bachelor Degree.
  2. TAR UC Diploma will be accepted on credit transfer into Bachelor Degree programmes.
  3. Equivalent qualifications/qualifications from other Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  4. Information is correct at the point of printing. Subject to the Ministry of Education latest requirements.
