Course Overview

The career of a Mechanical Engineer involves the efficient application of physical and human resources in improving the standard of living. A Mechanical Engineer combines the basic knowledge of physical sciences and engineering education with experience and expertise to invent, run, and maintain mechanical equipment and systems in industries. A Mechanical Engineer also designs machine components for the production system of a particular product.

Entry Requirements

MALAYSIAN

  • Pass STPM or equivalent with a minimum PNGK of 2.00 and grade of C (NGMP 2.00) in two (3) subjects including Pengajian Am; OR
  • Pass STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid Jiddan and SPM grade of C in five (5) subjects including Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics*; OR
  • Pass Matriculation / Foundation / Asasi from Public or Private Higher Education Institutions with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and SPM grade of C in three (3) subjects including Bahasa Melayu; OR
  • Pass Diploma programme in relevant field with minimum CGPA of 2.50 and SPM grade of C in three (3) subjects including Bahasa Melayu; OR
  • Other equivalent qualification recognized by Government of Malaysia

AND

  • Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Band 2.

AND

  • Meet the faculty specific requirements

 

INTERNATIONAL

  1. Academic
    • Senior High School / Senior Secondary School / Other Equivalent Pre-University Examinations from the Government School (12 Years). OR
    • Level / Diploma in the related field; OR
    • Other certificates recognized by Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA) & senate of the university
  2. English

Students must obtain:

    • A band score of 5.5 and above in IELTS; OR
    • A score of 500 and above in TOEFL or 59 and above in TOEFL IBT; OR
    • Completion of ELS Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) Level 107 or higher

 AND 

    • Meet the faculty specific requirements

Career Prospects

Graduates in this area are capable of fulfilling the task of a technologist in the government, semi-government, and private firms. Graduates will be able to find job opportunities in various sectors such as manufacturing, processing, design, and research. A Mechanical Engineer may further his career as a designer (consulting firm), as a building contractor as a manufacturer of machines or engineering products, as a researcher in Research and Development (R&D) departments or Institutes or as an academician in Institutes of Higher Learning.
