DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia (DRBHU) is a boutique university situated in Pekan’s automotive industrial park. This young university is steadily growing with a clear vision to become ASEAN’s premier innovation, research, and educational institution for the automotive ecosystem and sustainable development. The university upholds the moral obligation to provide an excellent teaching and learning experience for our students in preparing them for their future. At the same time, DRBHU also endorses its supportive role in the community of Pekan.
In ensuring the quality of our courses through student evaluations for all subjects in every semester, lecturers and students provide feedback on the effectiveness of the teaching methodology and the practicality of the course itself. We encourage classes to be interactive and offer real-life challenges that require problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. Another initiative is to expose academicians to an annual 360-degree feedback on their teaching and learning aspects, where they receive constructive evaluations from their peers and immediate supervisors.
Teaching methodology has shifted from pedagogy to andragogy (student-centered) and towards heutagogy, in tandem with the contemporary changes in education progress and development. Academicians are expected to use teaching methodology consistent with Education 4.0, utilizing digital media tools and global education platforms. Student assessments are set on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and industry-based experiential learning, thereby aligning with the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015-2025, consisting of six basic attributes: ethics and spirituality, leadership skills, national identity, language proficiency, thinking skills, and knowledge.
Along with teaching and learning, continuous professional development is also of high priority at DRBHU. As such, the university is responsible for providing guidance and support for effective teaching and evaluation of students. To meet this objective, we are involved in academic induction, assessment handbooks for educators, teaching and learning policies, trainings, workshops, and informal sharing sessions for educators to upgrade their skills in teaching and learning matters. We often invite prominent trainers from reputed universities, professional boards, MQA-approved members, and, most importantly, members from the industry to support our various activities.
DRBHU is indeed a committed learning organization, promoting continuous personal and professional development of its students, educators, staff, and the members of the wider community at large.
