INTI College Sabah was established through Tan Yew Sing's vision of providing quality education to young people at their doorsteps. This branch college of INTI group sprouted in the heart of the new Putatan township in Kota Kinabalu. The college opened its doors in December 1995 under the name INTI Institute Kota Kinabalu (IIKK). Qualified and experienced lecturers where mostly engaged from the United Kingdom to provide students with the added advantage.
On 6 April 1996, the Governor of Sabah, TYT Tan Sri Datuk Panglima Haji Sakaran Dandai, officially launched INTI Institute Kota Kinabalu. From there on more courses were offered and coupled with the growing number of students, IIKK moved to its new premises in the same township in February 1997.
