Background of Institution

Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST) was established in 2000 as a postgraduate university by the MUST Ehsan Foundation (a private non-profit organization) with the assistance of  the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) USA. MUST helps to meet the need for high-quality graduates in the areas of science and technology by conducting full-time programmes at graduate levels in these fields.

Facilities

Lecture rooms/halls are fully-equipped with audio visual aids, including LCD projectors and laptop computers.

High-bandwidth links for data transfer and video streaming is connected to the Internet with a two megabits per second (Mbps) leased line giving high-speed access to the Internet for students and staff anytime within the campus.

Workstations and computers are installed with the latest specialised software in all of MUST's laboratories.

A wireless network serves the library and the adjacent areas. Students can connect to the network using the university's laptops or their own laptops anywhere in the areas serviced by this network.

MUST's video conferencing facilities enable communication between the campus and other external institutions or organizations. The equipment is also used on a regular basis for academic and research collaboration between MUST and MIT.

Research labs are fully-equipped for all of MUST's programmes, The Biotechnology Faculty in particular, has four labs namely, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Plant Biotechnology and Proteomics.

The MUST library is well-stocked with printed and digitised magazines, journals and books. It is equipped with computer workstations that allows students to search and locate materials as well as access certain libraries in the world through the MUST Library homepage at http://library.must.edu.my.

A cozy and spacious student lounge is located on the 2nd floor for breaks and study discussions.

Student Support Services & Student Development Activities

  • A student council organises sporting and social activities such as football matches, mountain climbing and community services.
  • International Student Services include Meet and Greet, assistance in securing accommodation, Induction Programmes and Career and Counseling Service.

MSc Transportation and Logistics

I have been studying at Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST) for the past two and a half semesters and am hoping to complete by the end of the third semester. As I look back on the knowledge gained in the field of Transportation and Logistic, I must admit that I have gained a substantial amount of knowledge, boosting my confidence to pursue my carrier as a Transportation Professional at an even higher level.

To study and cope with the intensive workload and assignments at MUST, one must at all times stay abreast with lectures materials, that is, to have a thorough understanding of what is being taught. The course contents are structured in such a way that it engages the students in extensive written and communication skills as well as promotes the need for independent study. Before concluding it is worth mentioning the competency of the lecturers with excellent backgrounds from well-known prestigious universities, who deliver their lectures and course materials in a very professional manner.

Being an international student with a completely different culture, I regard whatever I’ve learnt at MUST and in Malaysia very fruitful in general and have not during my stay here encountered any major difficulties whatsoever. On this note I encourage any individual wishing to study at MUST to do so without hesitation.
