Course Description

The Diploma in Games Design and Animation - (DGDA) is a diploma programme that has been developed in consultation with the industry to ensure students have the best opportunity to meet the needs of employers and the industry. This programme focuses on the art and design of computer games and animation where students will concentrate on specific needs as a professional game artist, designer, developer and animator. 

Learning curves involved game development cycle, through which all the following areas are covered: pitching game ideas to writing game design documents, creating concept art and developing technical design documents, modelling, coding, texturing and animating and finally testing and marketing the game. Students can develop their potential beyond this base as they continue to work and study.

Entry Requirements

(i) Pass SPM/SPMV or its equivalent with at least 3 credits and pass Pendidikan Seni (Arts Education) or Lukisan Kejuruteraan (Engineering Drawing); 

OR

(ii) Science Computer Certificate from PTPL; 

OR

(iii) Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least grade B in 3 subjects and pass Pendidikan Seni (Arts Education); 

OR

(iv) Other equivalent qualification recognised by Malaysian Government 

AND

Pass interview/drawing test/portfolio evaluation conducted by PPT (provider of higher education) for candidates who did not take Pendidikan Seni (Arts Education) or Lukisan Kejuruteraan (Engineering Drawing) subject at SPM level

This programme enables its graduates to involve in a wide range of exciting career options in various industries such as game design industries, video game development and publishing industries, video production industries, courseware development companies, multimedia development companies, entertainment industries, broadcasting industries, multimedia telecommunication companies, film and animation industries, design agencies, education sectors, edutainment industries, event management industries and advertising agencies. 

Among positions offered are Artists, Animators, Designers, Programmers, Game Producers, Music and Sound Editors for Game and etc. Graduates can also consider upgrading their knowledge and skills by articulating into a range of degree or professional certification programmes offered in Malaysia or any other internationally recognised institutions.
