Course Description | The Master of Arts in the Teaching of English as a Second Language (M.A. TESL) programme combines theory, practice and research in issues related to the teaching of English as a Second Language (ESL). Students will develop the knowledge, competencies and attitudes required to identify and solve ESL-related problems by applying linguistic theories and pedagogical strategies to deliver effective second language instruction. Experienced TESL teachers will find the programme especially suitable since seminars and tutorials are scheduled for weekends so that students can continue to teach full-time while undertaking the M.A. TESL programme |
Entry Requirements | A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent qualification as accepted by the University Senate; or A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in a related field or its equivalent without a minimum CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to the applicant having a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field or Applicants without the minimum entry requirements above can apply through APEL (A). The following conditions apply: a) All applications are subject to appropriate APEL assessments conducted by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). b) Only Malaysian nationals can apply for the APEL (A) provision. International Applicants are required to have a minimum score of TOEFL 550 OR IELTS 6.0 OR have attained a degree from a university where the medium of instruction is English |
