Institution Profile

Quest International University Perak (QIUP)

Quest International University Perak (QIU) prides itself on creating graduates who become prime job market targets once they step off the convocation stage.

The University offers a combination of purposeful, consequential academic research and industry-based curricula which is tailored-made to meet the requirements of a job market adapting to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Industry-Tailored Education

At the moment, nearly 80 per cent of QIU’s lecturers have industry experience. This is more than three times higher than the national median of 23 per cent and the national benchmark of 25 per cent. This number is set to increase further.

Quest International University Perak (QIUP)

This wealth of experience is a treasure trove for our students. Our lecturers boast a powerful network of industry contacts that connect them to the latest advancements in their respective fields, ensuring that our education remains relevant.

Instead of relying solely on their books, QIU academics inculcate real-time knowledge into their lessons.  Their constant collaborations with the industry allow them to push the envelope in their research, creating effective innovations for the world of tomorrow.

Our industry advisors and adjunct professors include leaders of international companies like Leo Burnett Malaysia, Universal Music, Finisar Corporation and BP; as well as award-winning scientists and high-profile entrepreneurs.

Innovative Holistic Teaching and Learning

Throughout each of its programmes, QIU strives to ensure that students are fully equipped with the skills they need to excel in their future careers. They learn not only from the classroom but also by honing their skills in situations that replicate the challenges of the real world. Some examples include:

Quest International University Perak (QIUP)
  • Pharmacy: QIU is the only private university to have an on-campus pilot plant, where students practice the process of creating medicines. The student attachment period covers 12 weeks, including eight weeks in the industry/hospital and four weeks attached to community pharmacies. Recently accredited for a maximum five-year period, it is one of the most extensive pharmacy programmes in the nation.
  • Culinary: In addition to a full in-house fine dining restaurant, bakery, and professional kitchen, culinary students learn how to grow and select their ingredients from a farm. In this way, they understand the full culinary process from the farm to the table.
  • Engineering: QIU is introducing a new curriculum where students undergo a yearly industrial attachment at prominent technology-based companies. A typical engineering undergraduate would only undergo one session of industrial training in a four-year programme, but QIU's students undergo three sessions throughout the four-year programme--providing them with an unrivalled level of industry exposure.
Guided by industry experts, students will learn to apply the theories taught in the classroom to real-time challenges, and use them to complement the practical skills they pick up during the attachment. They then become lucrative assets to industry employers.
  • Early Childhood Education: The Early Childhood Education programme is the first in Malaysia to employ competency-based course content.  It moves away from the concept of examinations as the final determinant and focus minstead on developing teaching skills through experiential learning.
The delivery methods are focused on project-based hands-on learning. For instance, students are trained to develop teaching materials and toys with different approaches.
  • Communication: The University has launched a trailblazing student-run advertising agency that is set to redefine hands-on education in the communications field.
Run entirely by QIU’s Communication students, the Ad.U agency will provide a broad range of marketing communication services for print, broadcast and social media to businesses across Malaysia.
The students will get a first-hand taste of the real day-to-day challenges involved in an advertising agency – experience that will make them prime targets in today’s fast-paced job market.

QIU’s focus on providing industry-relevant education has already paid off. Our students are employed at some of the world’s biggest companies, including Sony, Finisar, Genting, Intel, Samsung, and Deloitte.
