Applied and Work Integrated learning (WIL) is an initiative taken by The Prime School that integrates academic learning in logistics and the e-business field with its practical applications in the industry.
The aim is to ensure that students develop the ability to integrate their learning through a combination of academic and work-related activities. At The Prime School, our aspiration is to ensure that applied and work-integrated learning is a significant feature gained by our graduates, with an emphasis on student centred learning.
It is an excellent opportunity for students to spend an extended period of time undertaking genuine work tasks with workplace supervision. Students learn to integrate previously studied theory with its practical application in the workplace and are able to develop professional competencies for the future. For applied learning, students are given industry projects by our industry mentors as part of their assessment module, either as individuals or as a team. Projects are evaluated by our academics together with industry mentors. As well as learning to integrate and apply previously studied theory, students are able to develop their skills in project management and client liaison, and may be required to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
Saito Logistics students get to visit various divisions in the Safeguards Oceanic Warehouse in Petaling Jaya and are shown the various processes in freight and warehousing operations, haulage, tracking and customs and forwarding.

Safeguards Oceanic is a Bumiputra licensed forwarder registered with the Royal Customs Department, the Port Klang Authority and the Kemaman Port Authority.
The Prime School of Integrated Logistics has engaged with Safeguards Oceanic as an industry partner to give our students real life exposure of the logistics industry. Through applied and work-integrated learning as well as industry placement, Saito students benefit from direct training with Safeguards Oceanic during a semester break, playing an important part in preparing the student for a professional career.
Through the hands-on training, students learn about the skillsets required, the demands of the industry and work ethics. At the same time, it gives the student an opportunity to practice what was learned at Saito. This industry exposure enhances the undergraduate’s work life by cultivating enthusiasm and commitment; provides a lifelong learning experience; is an opportunity to engage with their chosen profession in a real world setting; appreciate and understand the practical application of their academic programme; work with professional mentors and to begin to build their own networks in the industry.
