Audio visual and media production jobs involve operating, maintaining and repairing AV equipment; editing footage and audio tracks; and making production decisions. It also includes careers in the communications industry that manufacture, design, install, operate, and repair AV communications equipment for corporate boardrooms, convention centres, classrooms, theme parks, stadiums, and museums. Those who work in telecommunications focus on the interaction between computers and communications equipment that provide information in the form of data, graphics, and video.

Audio & Video Equipment Technician | Set up and operate audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for concerts, sports events, meetings and conventions, presentations, and news conferences. |
Broadcast Technician, or Broadcast Engineer | Set up, operate, and maintain the electronic equipment used to transmit radio and television programmes. Control audio equipment to regulate volume level and quality of sound during radio and television broadcasts. |
Camera Operator - Television, Video, & Motion Picture | Operate television, video, or motion picture camera to record images or scenes for various purposes, such as TV broadcasts, advertising, video production, or motion pictures. |
Desktop Publisher | Format typescript and graphic elements using computer software and knowledge of type styles, and size and layout patterns to produce publication-ready material. |
Film & Video Editor, News Editor, or Videographer | Edit moving images on film, video, or other media. May edit or synchronize soundtracks with images. |
Graphic Designer, Creative Director, Designer, or Graphic Artist | Design or create graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs, such as packaging, displays, or logos. May use a variety of mediums to achieve artistic or decorative effects. |
Multimedia Artist & Animator, Art Director, or Creative Director | Create special effects, animation, or other visual images using film, video, computers, or other electronic tools and media for use in products or creations, such as computer games, movies, music videos, and commercials. |
Photographers | Photograph people, landscapes, merchandise, or other subjects, using digital or film cameras and equipment. May develop negatives or use computer software to produce finished images and prints. Includes scientific photographers, aerial photographers, and photojournalists. |
Prepress Technician | Format and proof text and images submitted by designers and clients into finished pages that can be printed. Includes digital and photo typesetting. |
Set & Exhibit Designer | Design special exhibits and movie, television, and theatre sets based on evaluation of scripts, budgets, research information, and available locations. Study scripts, confer with directors, and conduct research to determine appropriate architectural styles. |
Sound Engineering Technician, Audio Engineer, Mixer, or Recording Engineer | Operate machines and equipment to record, synchronize, mix, or reproduce music, voices, or sound effects in sporting arenas, theatre productions, recording studios, or movie and video productions. |
Technical Manager, or Production Manager | Coordinate activities of technical departments, such as taping, editing, engineering, and maintenance, to produce radio or television programmes. Monitor broadcasts to ensure that programmes conform to station or network policies and regulations. |
Telecommunications Technician | Install, set-up, rearrange, or remove switching, distribution, routing, and dialling equipment used in central offices. Service or repair telephone, cable television, Internet, and other communications equipment on customers' property. |
Video Game Developer/Designer | Create story lines and character biographies and design role-play mechanics. Write code to turn designer’s concepts into a playable game. Document the game design process and conduct design reviews. |
Web Developer, Web Architect, Web Designer, or Webmaster | Design, create, and modify websites. Analyse user needs to implement website content, graphics, performance, and capacity. May convert written, graphic, audio, and video components to compatible web formats by using software designed to facilitate the creation of Web and multimedia content. |
